SFIA Libraries in Competencies The Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) provides a common, standardized library of definitions for skills and competencies that can be used by the LMS to evaluate employees.You can import libraries defined in the SFIA up to version 5. The libraries are structured in categories and subcategories, with each subcategory containing one or more competencies. You can add individual competencies or an entire category or subcategory to your competency models.The competencies in SFIA libraries include proficiency levels with detailed descriptions. These can be edited after import.To import, delete and manage SFIA libraries, your role must have unrestricted access to the Competency Library feature.Import a SFIA Library These steps assume that you have acquired/downloaded a supported version of SFIA framework. For additional information, please see the SFIA website, linked above. Go to Manage Center > Talent > Competency Manager > Library. Click the Import/add competency library icon located above the Libraries list. In the Library Name field, enter the name. Click Choose File and select the library file to import from your file browser. Click Import. Set the Permissions for a SFIA LibraryTo set permissions for the library, locate and select the appropriate option on the Library page. Click the action menu located above the Libraries list and select Permissions. Use the permission selector, following the guidelines below: Read-only allows the user to view the library. Unrestricted additionally allows the user to update, delete and set permissions for the library. Add SFIA Library Competencies to Competency ModelYou can add competencies from SFIA libraries to competency models in the following ways: Add an entire library, category or sub-category of competencies. Add individual competencies from a category or sub-category. Add a Library, Category or Sub-Category of Library Competencies On the Library page, select the library, a category or a sub-category. Click the action menu located above the Libraries list and select Add category to model. Select the appropriate option from the model hierarchy. Click Add to model. If you choose to add the entire library, all categories and sub-categories will be added to the model. If you choose a category that has sub-categories, these will be added to the model as well. Add One or More Individual Competencies On the Library page, select a category or sub-category. The individual competencies associated with the category display on the right. Click the checkbox(es) for the appropriate competencies. Select Add to model from the Bulk Action drop-down list. Select the appropriate option from the model hierarchy. Click Add to model. Delete SFIA Library CompetenciesDelete a Library, Category or Sub-Category On the Library page, select a library, category or sub-category. Select the delete icon located above the Libraries list. Click OK. Delete One or More Individual Competencies On the Library page, select a category or sub-category. The individual competencies associated with the category display on the right. Click the checkbox(es) for the appropriate competencies. Select Delete from the Bulk Action drop-down list. Click OK. If you delete a library, category or sub-category, all categories below it will also be deleted. Competencies deleted from the SFIA library are NOT deleted from any competency models to which they have been added.Competencies that have been added to a model from a library remain in the model if the library competency is deleted.
