Create & Manage Questions To create and manage questions your role must have unrestricted access to the Questions feature.Create a QuestionYou can create a brand new question or clone an existing one, copying its properties at the same time.Go to Manage Center > Learning > Exam and Question Manager > Questions.Take one of the following actions:To create a brand new question, click + Create Question.To clone an existing question, locate the question you would like to clpy. Click the action menu and select Clone.A question ID is generated automatically, but you can override it in the Enter the question ID: field.Select an option from the Question Type drop-down field. The LMS supports the following question types:TypeDescriptionDrag and dropThe learner must drag the selection image to the correct area on the background image.EssayThe learner enters free text.Fill in the blanksThe learner enters the correct word or words which are missing in the question.HotspotYou define one or more hot areas in an image and the learner must select one of the areas to answer the question correctly. There can be more than one correct answer.MatchingProvides two columns of up to 10 selections. Learners must select an answer from a drop-down list to match a specific question. Multiple choiceA multiple choice question with up to five answers. Learners must select the check boxes for all correct answers.RatingSelect a single value between the minimum and maximum inclusive. The number of options is specified by the spread. Rating questions can be automatically graded by multiplying the selected rating by the maximum score for the question, and dividing by the spread.Single choiceThe learner must select a single correct answer from up to four choices.True/FalseThe learner must select True or False from a drop-down list.Triple RatingProvides three columns of ratings questions, which share a common low value label, high value label and spread.The question type cannot be changed once the question has been created.Select the appropriate question pool, topic pool or sub-topic pool to which you are assigning the question.Click Create. The question editor opens. Here you can configure the details, preview and approve, add media, view usage statistics and more.The following steps explain how to manage additional question configurations. In each configuration screen, you must save any changes made before moving on to the next screen. The save icon is located in the toolbar in the top-right area of the screen. Here, you can also create a new question or clone the question that is open.Configure Question DetailsOn the question Details tab, configure the fields. Use the table below for guidance:FieldDescriptionQuestion ID (read only)Unique id for the question. Version (read only)Question version number. If the question requires approval, the version number increases each time the question is re-opened for editing and a new version is approved. Previous versions are moved to the Archive tab.StatusIf your organization requires questions to go through approval workflow, this field is read only, and th status is updated as it goes through the workflow process. If not, the status can be updated by users with unrestricted access to the question.Language (read only)Indicates the language of the question. Reference InfoEnter any relevant information about the question. This text is displayed below the question in an exam.Prioritize when selecting questions for random exam sectionsClick this option to allow the question to be included in randomly generated exam sections that draw questions from its question pool.TextEnter the question text.Enable Question AttachmentClick the checkbox to allow attchements when the question is selected for an exam.Display Additional CommentsClick the button to configure additionl items to display with the question:Hints - include a question hint that displays to the participant.Pre-comment - include a comment that displays to the participant prior to the question.Explanation - include an explanation that displays to the participant.Additional fields, primarily related answer choices, are available and vary based on the question type.Click the save icon.Configure Question AdministrationOn the question's Administration tab, you can manage question items including the question pool, valid dates, weighting, permissions, usage and other question attributes. On the question's Administration tab, configure the fields. Use the table below for guidance:FieldDescriptionQuestion Pool Level (s)Update question pool, topic pool, sub-topic pool, etc. for the question (if required)Expiration DateEnter an expiration date and time for the question, when it is no longer available to include in exams. Usage Limit ThresholdMaximum number of times the question can be selected for exams. This is monitored by a daily background task. When the threshold is met, the question is retired.WeightingThe maximum number of points that can be awarded when the question is delivered in a randomized exam section.DifficultyDifficulty level for the question, used to filter questions in Exam Manger and Question Manager.CommentsHere, you can enter a comment to communicate informatio about the question. This comment is not visible to exam participants.OwnerA question can only have one owner. Click the browse icon to change the owner.PermissionsClick the Permissions button to update access to the question.Read-only allows the user to view the question.Unrestricted additionally allows the user to update, delete and set permissions for the question.Click the save icon.Add Media to a QuestionIn the Media tab you can specify images, audio, video or enter and HTML to be presented with the question.On the questions Media tab take one of the following actions:Choose an image from the repository manager - click the Select file button for the appropriate field and choose the file from the repository.Specify an external image, audio or video file - enter the full URL of the file in the appropriate URL field.Add custom content - enter the content in the Other (HTML) field. To enter html, click the source code icon. Click the save icon.Manage Question Language BundlesLanguage bundles can be added to a question to deliver the question and answer content in various languages.On the Questions page, locate the appropriate question. Click the action menu and select Manage Language Bundles.Click + Add Language Bundle.Select a language to assign to the question and click Add.Select Edit Bundle Content from the language bundle's action menu.Enter the question details in the bundle's language.You can update the media associated with a question's language bundle. To do so, click the Media tab, and configure the media.Click Save. To delete a language bundle click Delete from the language's action menu.Preview a QuestionOn the Questions page, locate the appropriate question. Click the action menu and select Edit.Click the Preview/Approval tab.Scroll to the bottom of the tab to preview the question and its reference information.View Question Usage StatisticsYou can view which exams are using a question and also see the response statistics within a specified date range.On the Questions page, locate the appropriate question. Click the action menu and select Edit.Click the Usage Statistics tab.To see the response statistics, select a date range and click Search. The question and its answer choices are listed with their response count and percentage.Delete a QuestionTo delete a question, locate the appropriate question on the Questions page.
